バイオグラフィー

Nataliya Shikolenko took up athletics in 1978 and was selected for the Soviet team in 1982. She débuted internationally at the 1987 World Championships, but did not get out of qualifying. Shikolenko won the 1990 Goodwill Games and a silver medal at the 1992 Olympics. After the fall of the Soviet Union, she represented her native Belarus, winning the 1995 World title, and silvers and the 1995-96 European Cups, adding a World Championship bronze in 1993. She also competed at the 1994 European Championships, but did not advance from qualifying, and at the 1996 Olympics, where she placed 12th. Shikolenko won Soviet titles in 1986 and 1990-91 and the 1992 CIS title. Her sister Tatyana Shikolenko was also a world class javelin thrower, who won silvers at the World Championships in 1999 and 2003 and the 1998 European Championships.
