バイオグラフィー

Discus thrower Manfred Grieser took part in the 1960 Rome Olympics and finished 16th. In 1957 and 1959 he was East German Champion. He studied sports science at the Deutsche Hochschule für Körperkultur (German High School for Physical Culture) in Leipzig and worked as a trainer teacher until German re-unification. He was also a member of the statistics commission of the East German track and field association and was then employed by the re-unified German track and field association.

Grieser also became president of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Leichtathletik-Dokumentation 1990 e.V. (German Society of Track and Field Documentation) in 1998 as the successor to the athletics historian Klaus Amrhein. He married his teammate Irene Schuch, which was her second marriage, and their son Thomas became a 400 metre runner.
