バイオグラフィー

Olympic field hockey player Ernest Bohr was named after the noted physicist Ernest Rutherford, who was awarded the 1908 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. One of Rutherford's post-docs had been a Danish student, Niels Bohr, who went on to win a Nobel Prize (in Physics) of his own, for his work on atomic structure. Bohr also played a key role in the development of quantum theory. He also was the father of six sons, of which Ernest was the youngest. Two of Ernest's brothers became scientists as well - Aage won a Nobel Prize in 1975 - but Ernest took more after his uncle, Harald, who had been an football player and had been an Olympian in 1908. Ernest's sport was field hockey, which he played domestically with Orient (Lyngby). In 1948, he was selected for the Danish Olympic squad. The team was n'o very successful, losing three of its four pool matches and drawing the fourth.

That same year, Bohr graduated from law school, and he later became a district court attorney. He also served in the board of directors of numerous corporations and organizations, including the Niels Bohr Archive in København.
