バイオグラフィー

In 1908 Elsa Rendschmnidt became the first German woman to win an Olympic medal. Also the runner-up at the 1908 and 1910 World Championships, in 1911 she was the first German figure skating champion for women. Her training partners were Ulrich Salchow and Werner Rittberger, among others. She later coached several figure skaters at St. Moritz and Davos. Rendschmidt was a librarian, by profession. She later married Fritz Sander, who died at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in 1941, murdered by the Nazis. In 2006, a walkway near her homeclub Berliner SC was named for her.
