In addition to his two Olympic appearances, András Wanié won three medals in the 4x200 freestyle relay at the European Championships – gold in 1931, silver in 1926, and bronze in 1927. Wanié also played water polo successfully, and in 1940 became the Hungarian head coach. He later worked at the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1943 Wanié emigrated to the United States.
