In addition to his two Olympic appearances in 1924 and 1928, Alberts Rumba competed in two World Championships placing 7th (1927) and 5th (1926). At home, he was an all-round champion in 1924 and 1926-1932. Later Rumba also worked as a coach. In 1928, he was appointed president of the Latvian Union of Winter Sports and in 1934 elected as a member of the International Skating Union (ISU). After World War II, Rumba worked for the Physical Culture Sport Committee of the Latvian SSR, but was deported to the Amur Region from 1949-1956.
