Abdurrahim Kuzu was born in Turkey, but emigrated to the United States in the late 1970s. He competed for the University of Nebraska at Omaha in college, while majoring in health and physical education. Kuzu became a naturalized US citizen in 1983 which allowed him to compete for the United States at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, where he finished fourth. Kuzu was a silver medalist in Greco-Roman at the 1979 World Championships.
