Candidates presentation and voting regulations for election of IOC President published

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Ethics Commission has published the candidates presentation and voting regulations for the election of the next IOC President after their approval by the IOC Executive Board. The two documents cover the regulations for the presentation by the candidates to IOC Members on 30 January 2025 and the voting regulations for the 144th IOC Session in Greece.

The regulations concerning the presentations by the candidates outline how these presentations will take place, the rules surrounding them and the media interactions afterwards. The presentations will take place in camera and follow the order of the drawing of lots announced on 26 November.

The vote itself will take place at the 144th IOC Session in Greece between 18 and 21 March 2025. The vote will also be conducted in camera, and rounds of voting will continue until a candidate obtains the absolute majority of the votes. The candidate obtaining the fewest votes in each round will be eliminated and will not take part in the following round. The announcement of the name of the new IOC President will be broadcast live after the Session room has been reopened after the final round of voting. The term of office of the newly elected IOC President will start on 24 June 2025, with current IOC President Thomas Bach continuing as IOC President until that time.
