Double Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin is looking to make more World Alpine Ski Championships history on Saturday (18 February) in the women's slalom.

The 27-year-old has raced this event five times at worlds, claiming a record four consecutive golds (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019) and one bronze (2021). She could overtake Germany's Christl Cranz, who took four golds and one silver from 1934 to 1939, when the competition was held annually.

The Colorado-born star has won the discipline's World Cup globe six times and is currently leading the 2002/2023 standings with five wins and a second place.

She will likely battle it out with Olympic champion Petra Vlhova of Slovakia, Wendy Holdener of Switzerland, Lena Duerr of Germany and Anna Swenn Larsson of Sweden.
