Will Mikaela Shiffrin be able to secure her 100th World Cup victory this weekend in front of her home fans?

The Alpine skiing star will have two chances to reach the milestone in Killington, Vermont, with a giant slalom on Saturday (30 November) followed by a slalom on Sunday (1 December).

“I guess it’s not impossible, but so many things have to go right,” she said after her 99th win in Gurgl.

“From the outside it looks easy, or it looks like it’s supposed to happen this way. But... it’s certainly not easy!"

Shiffrin has won both slalom events this season and aims to build on her record 62 wins in her favourite discipline.

On the Superstar track, the double Olympic champion has yet to win a giant slalom, though she has reached the podium on three occasions. However, she holds the record for slalom wins at the Vermont resort, with six victories out of seven races.

This weekend could bring even more history for the American. With 154 World Cup podiums to her name, the 29-year-old could potentially tie and surpass Ingemar Stenmark's record of 155 podiums.
