French basketball phenom Victor Wembanyama is eyeing Olympic gold at Paris 2024.

The 19-year-old San Antonio Spurs rookie, speaking to L'Equipe, reaffirmed his commitment to compete for the national team at the Games next year in his home city.

"Performing well at the Olympics would be a great story," Wembanyama said. "I'll be present at the Olympics, and there's no other goal than gold."

The No.1 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft wasn't a part of the French side that finished 18th at FIBA World Cup 2023, opting instead to prepare for his first NBA season with the Spurs.

Previously, Wembanyama had said the national team was as important to him as the club.

The addition of the star to the Olympic team will be seen as a welcome boost as Les Bleus attempt to upgrade their silver from Tokyo 2020, in 2021.
