The next stop on the tennis tour is Berlin for the 2024 Laver Cup (20-22 September).
Envisioned by Roger Federer and named after tennis great Rod Laver, the Laver Cup pits the best European players against the rest of the worldâs top stars.
Team Europe is led by captain and six-time French Open champion Bjorn Borg, with US Open (2022) and Wimbledon (2023, 2024) champion Carlos Alcaraz alongside world number two Alexander Zverev among the playing team.
Seven-time Grand Slam winner John McEnroe captains defending champions Team World, featuring Taylor Fritz off the back of his US Open final run as well as Frances Tiafoe.
Here is everything you need to know about the seventh edition of the Laver Cup.
2024 Laver Cup â Format and schedule
The Laver Cup will be played over three days at the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany, with day sessions on each day of play and night sessions on 20 and 21 September.
Points are awarded for a match win, with the number of points increasing each day. Winning a match on the opening day (20 September) earns teams one point, followed by two points on Saturday and three points for matches on Sunday (22 September).
The first team to reach 13 points will win the Laver Cup, currently held by back-to-back champions Team World. At least nine matches will be played between the two teams, though the competition could go up to 13 matches if the scoreboard is still too tight.
As per the organisers, âIf the tournament is tied after 12 matches, a final overtime doubles match âThe Deciderâ is played to determine the winner.â
2024 Laver Cup â Team Europe lineup
Rafael Nadal was due to play at the Laver Cup for the fourth time, but his withdrawal on 12 September led to the call-up of world number 10 Grigor Dimitrov for his first competition appearance in six years.
Instead, Team Europe is headlined by another Spanish star in Alcaraz, who makes his competition debut after winning two Grand Slams and Olympic silver in 2024.
Another Olympian called up is Tokyo 2020 menâs singles champion Zverev, who has reached a career high of number two in the ATP world rankings.
The selection of world number five Daniil Medvedev means that three of the top five in the world are representing Team Europe in the German capital.
Rounding up the star-studded European team is Casper Ruud, who has won all three of his Laver Cup matches, and Stefanos Tsitsipas, who recently had to withdraw from representing his home country of Greece at the Davis Cup.
2024 Laver Cup â Team World lineup
Some of the USAâs best tennis stars will aim to bring a third Laver Cup back for Team World, in what would be the second time a team has won three consecutive editions.
Fritz comes off the back of winning bronze in the Paris 2024 menâs doubles competition, as well as reaching the US Open final for the first time in his career earlier in September.
The teamâs American core also includes the return of âBig Foeâ Tiafoe, who alongside Zverev will make his fifth Laver Cup appearance. Ben Shelton won all three matches on his debut in Vancouver last year and will not want his winning streak to come to an end.
Chileâs Alejandro Tabilo will make his competition debut in Berlin. The 27-year-old peaked at a career-high ranking of world number 19 in July.
Alex de Minaur and Tommy Paul were due to round up the squad, but injuries mean that they have been replaced by late additions Francisco Cerundolo and Thanasi Kokkinakis.
