The reigning Olympic champion in the women’s 400m hurdles is set to compete at the 2022 World Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
McLaughlin will get underway on Tuesday (19 July) with the heats, and if she qualifies the American will take part in a semi-final on Wednesday (20 July). The women’s 400m hurdles final is scheduled for 7:50 pm PDT on Thursday (21 July).
What is Sydney McLaughlin’s 400m hurdles time?
McLaughlin is the world and Olympic record holder in the women's 400m hurdles. She set her world record time of 51.41 seconds this year at the U.S. world trials on 25 June 2022.
On her way to the Olympic title at Tokyo 2020, McLaughlin ran a 51.46, which is the current Olympic record, and was a world record at the time.

Willie and Mary McLaughlin are Sydney McLaughlin’s parents. They’re the head of a talented sporting family – and athletes themselves. Willie McLaughlin was a semi-finalist in the 400m at the 1984 U.S. Olympic Trials, while Mary McLaughlin ran track as a member of her high school’s boys team.
Sydney’s brother, Taylor, took silver in the men's 400m hurdles at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships. Taylor McLaughlin competed at the NCAA level for the University of Michigan Wolverines while another of Sydney’s siblings, Morgan, ran for St. Peter’s University.
