The Olympic Qualifier Series 2024 (OQS) in Budapest, Hungary, from 20-23 June, is the final chance for 160 sport climbing athletes to secure an Olympic quota for Paris 2024.*
As a reminder, a total of 30 sport climbing quota spots can be obtained by athletes at OQS: 10 in each of the two Boulder & Lead events and five in each of the two Speed events.
Quotas will be obtained based on a points system. Climbers can earn a maximum of 100 points, with 50 points available to the winners in the first round in Shanghai last month, and another 50 in Budapest.
Therefore, for the athletes that performed well at the first OQS in the People's Republic of China, the job is only half done and they require another good showing to obtain their Olympic quota. While for others, there will be a chance to get back into the competition.
*As National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective teams at the Olympic Games, athletes' participation at Paris 2024 depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation. Click here to view the qualification system for each sport.
OQS Budapest 2024: Meet the Speed climbers
A total of 64 Speed climbers, 32 women and 32 men, are contesting the 10 total quotas available at OQS.
In the women's draw, home hero Zhou Yafei took top spot in Shanghai, beating Indonesia's 2023 Asian Games bronze medallist, Rajiah Sallsabillah, in the final. Both women will be the top two favourites for this event.
Sallsabillah's impressive run in the People's Republic of China included nail-biting victories over World No.2 Natalia Kalucka, and her sister Aleksandra in the semis and quarters respectively, who will both be out for redemption.
Top spot in the men's in Shanghai went to Sallsabillah's compatriot Veddriq Leonardo, who shattered the world record several times in an astonishing display that saw him beat World No.1 Wu Peng in a dream final. In this form, it's difficult to look beyond Leonardo dominating again in Budapest.
But he will have an eye out for Chinese 18-year-old Wang Xinshang, who finished third on home turf.

OQS Budapest 2024: Meet the boulder & lead climbers
A total of 48 athletes are competing in each Boulder & Lead event in an attempt to obtain one of the 10 quota spots available.
USA's Brooke Raboutou will be favourite to win the women's first place after she pipped former Lead world champion Seo Chaehyun in a thrilling contest in Shanghai.
Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Nonaka Miho of Japan finished in fourth, and will be looking to improve upon that in Hungary.
Lee Dohyun unexpectedly stole the show in Shanghai to take the men's top spot, with fourth place in the Boulder and first in the Lead. If he continues this form in Hungary, it is hard to see anyone beating the Republic of Korea athlete.
Another man who will be quietly confident is reigning men's Olympic champion, Alberto Ginés López of Spain, who roared back to top form in China to take second place, while multiple world champion Adam Ondra will also be a threat, having taken third place.
