The 2024 Six Nations Championship is history.

Ireland claimed back-to-back titles after beating Scotland 17-13 in the final round of one of rugby's great competitions. England denied the Irish consecutive Grand Slams in the penultimate round with a nail-biting one-point victory.

From 2 February to 16 March, the top six rugby nations in the northern hemisphere clashed in venues across Europe to determine which team would be crowned continental champions.

This year’s edition, which featured defending Grand Slam champions Ireland, France, England, Wales, Scotland and Italy, was a tournament of transition with several notable names having officially stepped back from the game.

Irish legend Johnny Sexton, Scotland’s Stuart Hogg and Wales stalwart Alun Wyn Jones have all retired since last year’s tournament.

France was without their talisman Antoine Dupont, who has opted to skip this year’s competition in pursuit of a place in the rugby sevens event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, while England missed captain Owen Farrell, who has stepped down on mental health grounds.

All teams played each other once in a round-robin format with four points awarded for a win and two points awarded for a draw. A bonus point is awarded to a team if they score four or more tries, or lose by seven points or fewer.

Three bonus points are also awarded to a team that wins all five of their matches - known as the Grand Slam - to ensure that a Grand Slam-winning team tops the table.
