Shooting XIII CAT Championships Lima 2022: Dania Jo Vizzi and Dustan Taylor secure Paris 2024 spots for USA

Dania Jo Vizzi and compatriot Dustan Taylor claimed the women's and men's Skeet titles at the XIII CAT Championships 2022 in Lima, Peru on Monday (7 November) and with it, two Shooting quota places in the discipline for Team USA at Paris 2024.
Vizzi, a two-time World Championship gold medallist, beat Chile's three-time Olympian Francisca Crovetto in a shoot-off in the women's final with another American, Caitlin Connor rounding out the podium in third place.
In the men's event, Taylor needed four hits out of four to claim the tile and made no mistake to take the win over Federico Gil of Argentina. Nicolas Pacheco Espinosa of Peru was third with Chile's 54-year-old Jorge Atalah, fourth.
The latter three are all two-time Olympians but it is the 30-year-old non-Olympian who has booked a spot to France for his nation in men's skeet shooting in two years time.
The US continue their good form in the shotgun discipline, following on from their recent haul of nine medals, including four gold, at September's 2022 World Championships for Trap and Skeet in Osijek, Croatia.
There are eight remaining Paris 2024 Games berths on offer in Lima, Peru at the championships for the shooting stars from the Americas.
The 13th Confederacion Americana de Tiro (CAT) Championships feature competition in Pistol, Rifle, Skeet, and Trap.
There are Paris qualification berths available in all the individual disciplines, plus continental titles in individual, team, and mixed events, and places in the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago on offer.
Shooters at the tournament, which is held every four years, include those who recently took part in the International Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships Rifle/Pistol, and World Championships Shotgun, which were also Olympic qualifier events.
When and where are the XIII CAT Championships Lima 2022 taking place?
The XIII CAT Championships are being held at the Las Palmas Shooting Range in Lima, Peru.
This 2022 edition officially began on Friday 4 November 2022, with the competition due to end on Sunday 13 November.
