Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was her usual self, cheerful and colourful, lighting up the track at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest in every way possible.
The Jamaican sprinter won her 100m heat with seeming ease, clocking 11.01 at the 2023 World Athletics Championships on Sunday, 20 August, but as always, it was also her bold and beautiful hair game that stole the show.
For her first race at her eighth track and field championships, Fraser-Pryce picked an orange shade with elements of hot pink.
So what influenced her colour choice this time?
“The orange is something that I like. Fire at the end of the rocket,” she told Olympics.com shortly after her heat.
“I did a pink, some Barbie, at the end of it,” added the 10-time world champion on how she drew inspiration from an unlikely source, this year's top-rated comedy film based on the Barbie dolls.
While we are not sure if Fraser-Pryce will stick with the fiery orange hair for the semi-finals and the finals in Budapest, whatever colour she picks will surely reflect burning intentions to extend her 100m track dominance, which spans more than 15 years.
The 36-year-old loves to change her hairstyle and colour.
We have seen her rock all sorts of shades before at the Olympics and the world championships.
At Eugene 2022, her green and yellow hairstyle matched the Jamaican flag. But the most striking one in recent times was probably the rainbow-inspired do at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha.
What a way to make a bold statement.
