Tokyo 2020 Olympic artistic gymnastics gold medallist Rebeca Andrade won the uneven bars gold medal on Saturday (21 May) at the Trophy Brazil (Trofeu Brasil), the country’s apparatus national championships, in Porto Alegre.
Andrade, who claimed world and Olympic gold on vault last season, made her routine on the bars look effortless, opening with an intricate toe-on Shaposhnikova, back uprise, stalder full pirouette, piked Tkatchev, Pak salto sequence.
She then executed a Maloney-half to the high bar and a piked Jager before sticking her toe-on, full-pirouette to full-twisting double back dismount combination.
The 23-year-old scored 14.600, ahead of 2008 and 2016 Olympian Jade Barbosa (12.833).
Barbosa executed a clean routine of her own that included a Ricna to Pak opening combo, but lost points at the end of her exercise where she dismounted with a simple layout flyaway.
Andreza de Lima took the vault title with a 12.833 average score.
Diogo Soares, a Tokyo Olympian and two-time Youth Olympics medallist, won the first final of the day, men's floor, with a final score of 13.733.
London 2012 Olympic still rings champion Arthur Zanetti and 2020 Olympian Caio Souza were also in the final but both suffered out of bounds deductions, settling for fourth and fifth place, respectively.
A trio of Tokyo Olympians swept the pommel horse podium with Francisco Barretto posting a 13.167 for gold, ahead of Souza (12.633) and Rio 2016 Olympic floor exercise bronze medallist Arthur Nory (12.533).
On the still rings, Gabriel Barbosa scored 13.567 to claim the title.
