Eleven Virtual Regatta players have been confirmed for the inaugural Olympic Esports Finals 2023 from 23–25 June in Singapore.

Of them, 10 finalists have been selected after coming through qualifying events – with eight qualifying directly by winning one of eight challenges held earlier this year, joined by the next best female player and next best male player based on their overall performances during the challenges, as well as one host nation wildcard.

Among the best esports sailors in the world, they will face off at the Suntec Conference and Exhibition Centre on 23 June to be crowned Olympic Esports Finals winner.

Virtual Regatta was put forward by World Sailing to represent sailing in the Olympic Esports Series 2023.

Additionally, an offshore endurance esports challenge was also held earlier this year, with the top three finishers due to receive Olympic Esports Finals trophies in Singapore.

Olympic Esports Finals 2023: Virtual Regatta competition format

The 11 finalists will take part in a series of seven races, each one showing off a different class of sailing boat. Points will be awarded on a low-points system during the preliminary races. After seven races, the top five players qualify for a final race which will count for more points, which makes movement in the standings more likely to happen. The lowest overall score will win.

Alongside Virtual Regatta, nine other games are part of the Olympic Esports Series and Olympic Esports Finals. They are: Tic Tac Bow (archery), WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS (baseball), Chess.com (chess), Zwift (cycling), Just Dance (dance), Gran Turismo (motorsport), Fortnite (shooting), Virtual Taekwondo (taekwondo), and Tennis Clash (tennis).
