Simone Biles: “I never felt more ready this early in the season”

Four-time Olympic gymnastics gold medallist Simone Biles said she’d never been more ready for a season than what was supposed to be this Olympic year.

“I never felt more ready this early in the season,” she said during the espnW virtual summit. “I was so ready for the Olympics to be this year.”

Quite a statement from the most decorated gymnast at the World Championships, who returned to training two weeks ago after seven weeks away due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“After that amount of time off, it kind of sucks because your body hurts and then you get really sore,” Biles said. “So you just have to get back into the swing of things. But it felt nice to see my coaches, my teammates, and just to be back on the equipment and in the environment.”

Japanese baseball star Shohei Ohtani launches Instagram to massive following

Shohei Ohtani, who plays for the Los Angeles Angels but hopes to represent his native Japan in baseball at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, has 135,000 followers on Instagram after only being on the platform one day.

The pitcher currently has one post, a video of him returning to the dugout to little fanfare from his teammates with the caption: “Hope my welcome to Instagram party goes better than this.”
