Nina Ortlieb led a remarkable Austrian podium clean sweep in Kvitfjell, Norway, as she finished in front of team-mates Stephanie Venier and Franziska Gritsch in the alpine skiing World Cup Super G on Sunday (5 March).
While more than half of the 47 racers had to deal with heavy snowy conditions, Ortlieb - wearing start bib number 31 - took full advantage of the improved visibility to clock the fastest time.
"It's unbelievable. I knew at the start the conditions were getting better and better. I was lucky. I'm sure it wasn't fair for everyone, but I got the opportunity and I think I skied well and I'm happy I'm here today," Ortlieb told Eurosport-Discovery after the race.
As the snow stopped after the top 20 bib numbers, first Gritsch (bib number 26) and then Venier (29) took the lead from Italy's Sofia Goggia before Ortlieb's winning run.
The last time three Austrian women swept the podium at a World Cup Super G was in December 2005 at Lake Louise, Canada, when Alexandra Meissnitzer won from Andrea Fischbacher and Michaela Dorfmeister.

Mikaela Shiffrin: I did a good job, now focus on the final GS races
Mikaela Shiffrin's wait to tie Ingemar Stenmark's World Cup wins record continues with the double Olympic champion finishing seventh, almost a second off the pace.
The 27-year-old put down a solid run and skied into provisional second place, 0.10 second off the pace.
"I think I've raced very well. The conditions were changing so much, so it's not one of those days where I can compare myself to what's going on with the results but skiing was good, I was aggressive, so I'm happy about that" the five-time overall champion said.
"There are many races in ski racing that are unfair and I think it would be a little bit different if I was running for the super G globe, maybe I would be a bit more angry, but maybe I'm one of the few down here who's not angry because I did a really good job with my run, it was the best I could do, so it's all right for me, it's actually a very positive day.
"At the start of the season I didn't think I was coming close to this 86 number so my goal was the overall globe. To be here now and to have the overall globe secured, the slalom (title) secured, actually to be this close to this record everybody is talking about, it has been an unbelievable season, I'm so thankful for it. So I'm just going to keep pushing for the final races, but I'm really excited about the position I'm in and the final thing for me is having a really strong performance in GS in these final two races and maybe I can hang on to the title there."
In the discipline standings, Elena Curtoni of Italy slightly increased her lead and now is 20 points ahead of Lara Gut-Behrami before the World Cup Final Super G in Soldeu, Andorra, on 16 March.
The Women's World Cup resumes on Friday 10 March with a giant slalom in Are, Sweden, followed by a slalom on Saturday.
