Can Mikaela Shiffrin start the new year by continuing to rewrite her records in the Alpine skiing FIS World Cup?
After securing her 93rd career victory in the Lienz slalom to end 2023, the American superstar has a chance to move closer to the mythical 100-win barrier in Kranjska Gora, where a giant slalom and slalom are scheduled on 6 and 7 January.
The double Olympic champion, who holds the record for the number of World Cup race wins, has raced ten times in the Slovenian resort, topping the podium in three occasions, the last one in giant slalom last year, where she equalled Lindsey Vonn's mark for the most wins by a female skier.
In Kranjska Gora, Shiffrin also recorded a rare DNF in slalom just ahead of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
Currently, the Colorado-born skier is leading both the overall and slalom standings.
She also lies third in the giant slalom rankings with Italy's Federica Brignone holding the top position.
