The women’s 200m at the 2022 World Track and Field Championships is set to be unmissable sporting action.
When competition begins on Monday (18 July) in Eugene, Oregon, the field will include Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah and new back-to-back 100m world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, both of Jamaica. They’ll face off with compatriot Shericka Jackson, who won silver in the 100m competition, and American Abby Steiner, who have traded spots with the fastest times in 2022.

Stars to watch in the women’s 200m at 2022 Track and Field Worlds
The women’s 200m is sure to be a star-studded event with Elaine Thompson-Herah, who captured both the women’s 100m and 200m sprint titles at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, will be seeking her first world crown in the event.
She’ll face stiff competition, including from two compatriots: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, twice Olympic champion in the 100m and the 200m world champion from 2013; and Shericka Jackson, who owns the fastest time in 2022 at 21.55.
Fraser-Pryce has already shown she is in excellent form, after winning the 100m title on Sunday 17 July, while Jackon came home second to take silver in Oregon.
American Abby Steiner briefly held the world leading time in June, hitting 21.77 on the 26th only to see Jackson push past her hours later.
Other contenders include Namibia’s Christine Mboma, USA’s Tamara Clark, and Nigeria’s Favour Ofili, who own the third, fourth, and fifth fastest times of the year, respectively.
