Biography

Shericka Jackson was born on July 16, 1994, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Her journey in track and field began in her school days at Steer Town Academy in Ocho Rios. Later, 'Jacko' transferred to Vere Technical for her high school education, where her running talent blossomed, exemplifying Jamaica's knack for producing exceptional sprinters.

Under the guidance of renowned track & field athletics coach Stephen Francis, Jackson debuted in the global sprinting arena while representing the MVP Track Club at the University of Technology in Papine, St. Andrew. She started representing Jamaica internationally at age 14, beginning with the CARIFTA Games in 2008.

Shericka Jackson: Sprinting triumphs across distances

The Jamaican's sprinting prowess spanned various distances – 100m, 200m, and 400m. Excelling initially in the longer distance, she claimed world 400m bronze and 4x400m gold medals in 2015, before qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where she won a bronze medal in the women's 400 metres and a silver in the women's 4x400m relay.
