On day 8 of competition at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024, two medal events will take place.
Both sets of medals are awarded in freestyle skiing dual moguls, while competition begins in figure skating and the big air in snowboard, with ice hockey and the curling mixed doubles continuing.

Gangwon 2024: Key athletes to watch on day 8 of the Winter Youth Olympic Games
On day 8, the dual moguls competition continues in its first Winter Youth Olympics. Both the men’s and women’s finals will take place at the Jeongseon High 1 Ski Resort.
In the women’s competition, Elizabeth Lemley of the United States already has an impressive list of results, despite only being 18 years old.
The talented skier, who won mixed team dual moguls gold on Friday, raced in her first elite World Cup event at just 15 and has recorded several podium finishes. At the 2022 Junior World Championships, she claimed gold in moguls and silver in dual moguls.
The home fans will be cheering for Yun Shin-Ee. The 16-year-old finished in the top 10 in the moguls competition at the 2022 Junior World Championships.
Thailand will also be present with Natcha Frenkel. She was born in Thailand before moving to Switzerland at the age of four. Frenkel competed at last year’s Junior World Championships in both dual moguls and moguls.
For the men, Japan’s Nakamura Takuto is expected to be among the medal contenders. The Japanese teenager was the youngest in the top ten in moguls at the 2023 Junior World Championships.
Lee Yoon Seung of the Republic of Korea is an outsider for the podium spots and so is Sweden’s Elis Moberg.
In the non-medal events, pairs and men's singles are the opening figure skating events in Gangwon 2024. Nakata Rio of Japan, Adam Hagara from Slovakia, and Republic of Korea'sKim Hyungyeom are ones to watch, and are set to compete in the final group. Nakata edged Kim for gold in Beijing at the Junior Grand Prix Final, with Hagara in third.
