Gangwon 2024: Chinese skaters conclude dominant short track display with relay gold; Italy medal rush continues - Day 5 Winter Youth Olympic Games top moments

Short track speed skating competition at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024 came to a thrilling close with People's Republic of China sweeping to gold in the mixed team relay.
The Chinese team dominated the individual events at the Gangneung Ice Arena, winning three of the six golds on offer, and made no mistake in the mixed-gender relay final on Wednesday (24 January).
Li Jinzi, Yang Jingru, Zhang Bohao, and Zhang Xinzhe, finished comfortably clear at the front with Zhang Xinzhe picking up his fourth medal of these Youth Olympics (two gold, two silver).
USA won the mixed team relay silver, with Sean Shuai picking up his second medal to add to the gold he won in the men's 500m earlier this week. Japan claimed bronze.
In biathlon, there was no fourth gold for France's Antonin Guy in the mixed relay 4x6km but there was some consolation with the team taking silver ahead of Czechia in bronze.
The winners of the event, Italy, had that to celebrate as well as a strong gold in the freestyle skiing slopestyle event.
Flagbearer Flora Tabanelli impressed enough to take the win ahead of Han Linshan of China and Germany's Muriel Mohr.
Meanwhile, Sweden clinched the number one spot in the mixed team ski cross ahead of Team USA and Switzerland.
