Gangwon 2024: Korean moguls skier hits headlines as USA start figure skating strong - Day 8 Winter Youth Olympic Games top moments

On day 8 of competition at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024, there were two medal events but plenty of drama.
USA and hosts Republic of Korea took the golds on Saturday 27th January, Elizabeth Lemley winning women's freestyle skiing dual moguls for USA with her teammate Abby McLarnon in third, while Australia's Lottie Lodge claimed silver.
Korean freeskier Lee Yoon Seung delighted the home crowd by claiming the men's dual moguls crown. Huff Porter of USA was second, while Japan's Nakamura Takuto took bronze.
In the non-medal events, USA also tasted success on the opening day of the figure skating competition, with Jacob Sanchez moving into the lead in the men's singles event by top scoring in the short program.
The USA also came through their first men's ice hockey 6-team encounter, beating Slovakia after a penalty shootout. Canada also won, comfortably beating hosts Republic of Korea
The curling mixed doubles competition also continued.
