Chalk up another piece of football history for Miura Kazuyoshi.
The well-travelled Japanese star and former Asian Player of the Year made his debut for Portuguese second division side Oliveirense in their 4-1 away win to Academico de Viseu on Saturday (22 April).
Miura was a substitute, appearing for just a few moments in injury time at the end of the game and didn't score, but just being there was an incredible achievement for the man known as "King Kazu".
According to Liga Portugal, Miura became the oldest-ever footballer to play in the country at 56 years, one month and 24 days.
Miura, who is in his 38th professional season, did not comment after the match, but posted one simple word on his Instagram account: History.
King Kazu continues his reign
Portugal is the fifth overseas destination for the former Japanese international after Brazil, Italy, Croatia and Australia. He transferred to Oliveirense on loan during his home nation's winter window from Suzuka Point Getters of the Japan Football League, the de facto fourth tier in the Japanese football pyramid.
Oliveirense's next match is on Friday at home to Estreal Amadora, who are third on the table. They have five games left in the Liga Portugal 2 campaign.
Miura scored 55 goals in 89 caps for the Japan national team.
