The six reigning continental champions and a team from the host country Saudi Arabia will compete for the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 in Jeddah, starting from Tuesday.
The FIFA Club World Cup 2023 will be available on live streaming and telecast in India. The football matches will be played at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium and King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad, who boast the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema in their side, will face the OFC Champions League holders Auckland City of New Zealand in the first round on Tuesday.
As per the FIFA Club World Cup format, the team from the host country and OFC Champions League face off for a place in the second round.
The winner of the Al Ittihad vs Auckland City match will face African champions Al Ahly of Egypt in the second round beginning on Friday. Mexico’s Club Leon, the North and Central American champions and AFC Champions League winners Urawa Reds of Japan will go head-to-head in the other second-round match.
The two winners of the second round will qualify for the semi-finals that feature UEFA Champions League winners Manchester City and South American representative Fluminense FC of Brazil.
The FIFA Club World Cup 2023 final will be played at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah on December 22.
Real Madrid are the most successful team at the FIFA Club World Cup, having won five titles, including the previous one. However, they were beaten by Manchester City in the semi-finals of the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League and failed to qualify this year.
