Devon Allen, the third fastest 110m hurdler of all time, is set to return to track competition in April.

The three-time U.S.110m hurdles champion is scheduled to race at the Mt. Sac Relays on April 12-15 in California and then he will try to defend his title at the Penn Relays on April 29 in Philadelphia.

This will be the first time competing in nearly 10 months since he reached the 110m final at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene.

The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver re-signed his contract with the NFL team after the end of the 2022 season, where he never played a regular-season game but was on the practice team.

Last year, Allen won the Penn Relays in a record time of 13:11.

Six weeks later, he sprinted to the third-fastest time ever of 12.84 seconds in New York.

At the 2022 World Championships, the Arizona native was disqualified from the final for a false start.

He left the blocks in 0.099 second after the gun, which was one-thousandth of a second over the allowable threshold of 0.1.

American Grant Holloway successfully defended his world title in the 110m hurdles.

After the Worlds, Allen returned to competitive football for the first time since 2016 when he played for Oregon University.

He is now ready to dive back into sprinting.

“It’s not like I’ve been sitting on a couch,” Allen said in an interview with the Inquirer. “It’s just about getting in shape over the next four to six weeks, then I’ll start competing again.”

The 28-year-old is expected to chase qualification for his third World Championships in Budapest between August 19-27, and be back on the pitch ahead of the 2023 NFL, set to begin on September 7.
