Daily routine: Five things to do - 14 April 2020
Staying home is no excuse for not being busy! Here, Olympic Channel looks at five things you can try today to stay active and entertained, from top coaching tips to discovering new music.
In today’s Daily Routine we have everything required to replenish the body and soul, from workouts to music, and even a delicious recipe!
Staying inside during the coronavirus is never easy, but as the world unites to flatten the curve, the lockdown may actually present some opportunities to learn and grow.
Without further ado, here are five great things to try on Tuesday 14th April, that will keep the boredom away.
- Spice up your food game
This one is more of a motivator. If you’re not much of a cook, well guess what? Neither is two-time tennis Olympic gold medallist Rafa Nadal! But he's still willing to give it a go.
We are not quite sure what is being concocted here, but he reveals to followers that he finds cooking ‘overwhelming’, while ‘it would be easier to be in the Monte Carlo tournament (which would have been played this week)’, before also highlighting that it was still good fun.
So get out a cookbook, or perhaps take a look at the Olympic Channel series Transform my Meal, and try cooking some new food... or have a go at baking like Rafa.
- The Strokes have a new album out!
Greek philosopher Plato once said that “Music gives a soul to the universe.” At Olympic Channel, we couldn’t agree more.
And that’s why you should give The Strokes’ new album, whose name The New Abnormal seems particularly fitting in these times, a listen today.
The American rock group’s upbeat tempo is perfect for a workout, relaxing, or for a good old boogie in your living room. Not a fan of The Strokes? No problem. Why don’t you dust off your favourite album and have a dance anyway?
Speaking of Greece and great music, who can forget this brilliant rendition of Mikis Theodorakis’ Zorba the Greek, that got the crowd clapping at the Athens 2004 closing ceremony?
- Get that heart rate up
How’s this for a home workout?
USA rugby speedster Carlin Isles shows that you don’t need a gym to maintain your leg power.
However, don’t be perturbed if you can’t jump as high as the fastest man in rugby, who recently passed the 200-try mark on the World Rugby Sevens Series.
We've been showcasing the top home workouts on this special page every day, as we encourage everyone to #StayHealthy, #StayStrong, and #StayActive.
Want to know more about Isles? We've got a load more content on him, which you can find through his athlete page.
And while we're in the rugby mood...
- Listen to the Olympic Channel Podcast feat. Ben Ryan
Perhaps you’ve done your exercise for the day, or you just need something to complement a relaxing afternoon.
You will not be disappointed with Olympic Chanel podcast episode featuring former Fiji gold-medal winning rugby coach, and all round great guy Ben Ryan.
The affable Englishman recounts some amazing tales from his time coaching the Pacific Islanders. There’s everything from black magic, to becoming a village chief, and even putting a sugar ban on his players in pursuit of Fiji’s first Olympic medal.
- Ever tried sculpting?
For those seeking an activity that doesn’t expend much energy, but will certainly take hours perfecting, how about sculpting ceramics?
If nothing else, just sit back, relax and enjoy the mastery of Chinese artist @taocixiansheng, who has created a mini Lionel Messi.
Remember to we want you to #StayHealthy, #StayStrong, and #StayActive.
