The United States defeated Brazil 1-0 in the final to win the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup 2024 on Sunday (10 March).

A header from captain Lindsey Horan moments before the break proved to be the difference at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California, where the football was largely even between the two household names.

But at the end of the day, USA continued to own the match-up, beating Brazil for the 32nd time in their 40th meeting. Both countries have secured a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Jaedyn Shaw of the U.S. was named tournament MVP.

Player of the match Horan produced the only goal just as it appeared the match was heading into half-time with no one on the scoreboard.

But as the clock ticked into stoppage time, Emily Fox crossed from the right for the far post, where Horan rose over the defense to nod in the winner.

Next, USA will host the SheBelieves Cup from 6-9 April where a rematch with Brazil awaits. Japan and Canada are also in the annual competition.

U.S. caretaker Twila Kilgore will continue to oversee the side until new manager Emma Hayes steps in following the season at Chelsea.
