The second stop of the Breaking for Gold World Series is underway in Rio.
Points are on the line for the breaking hopefuls as they make their way through qualifying for Paris 2024.
On the men’s side, B-Boy Amir of Kazakhstan carried his momentum from the title he won in Kitakyushu in February by qualifying for the Top 32 on Friday (14 April). Japan’s B-Boy Shigekix also advanced, as did 2022 world champ Phil Wizard of Canada.
Other favourites B-Boy Lussy Sky (Ukraine), or the B-Boy and lawyer Xak (Spain) moved on in Brazil, as well.
Liu Qing Yi, aka B-Girl 671, has moved into Saturday's (15 April) final rounds. She wants to keep up her momentum in tact after reaching the top of the podium in Japan in February after capturing silver at the 2022 World Championships.
Japan’s B-Girl Ami, her opposition in the final at both those events, also is into Day 2 in Rio.
European champ B-Girl India (Netherlands), Belgium’s B-Girl MadMax and B-Girl Anti of Italy were other big names to watch on Friday - and they all moved on.
