BMX Freestyle World Cup (Park) Montpellier 2023: Preview, schedule and how to watch live
With the race for Olympic qualification in full flow, the world’s top BMX freestyle riders travel to Montpellier for round two of three of the World Cup. Find out everything you need to know about the competition below.
The BMX Freestyle World Cup for park continues from 17-21 May in Montpellier, France with personal glory and Olympic qualification points for Paris 2024 on the line.
This is the second round of the three-event 2023 World Cup, with the first in Saudi Arabia seeing Australia’s Logan Martin and the USA’s Hannah Roberts dominate the standings. Both will be back in action in Montpellier hoping to extend their leads at the top of the rankings with victory in France.
The BMX freestyle World Cup for park is part of the FISE Montpellier 2023, an annual festival of urban sports that also includes the non-Olympic BMX flatland World Cup, as well as competitions for skateboard, breaking, scooter, parkour and more.

Riders to watch at the BMX Freestyle World Cup Park Montpellier 2023
Following their impressive victories in the debut Olympic BMX freestyle competition at Tokyo 2020, men’s champion Logan Martin and women’s gold medallist Charlotte Worthington of Great Britain will both be aiming for the top of the podium in Montpellier.
Joining them in the competition are all of the other Olympic medallists from Tokyo, including Venezuela’s Daniel Dhers (silver) and Britain’s Declan Brooks (bronze) in the men's event, as well as women’s silver and bronze medallists Hannah Roberts and Switzerland’s Nikita Ducarroz.
As entry lists go, it’s about as elite as you can get.
In the men’s competition, also watch out for Anthony Jeanjean, the 2022 European Champion, who will be hoping to impress on home soil a year out from the Paris 2024. Other riders to keep a close eye on include the USA’s Justin Dowell, Croatia’s Marin Rantes and Britain’s Keiran Reilly - each of whom has the skill to be victorious on their day.
The women’s field is just as deep as the men’s with Perris Benegas - third in Saudi Arabia - and 2018 YOG champion Lara Lessmann among the standout riders.
