Teenage BMX freestyler Roberts ready to take Olympic stage by storm

Hannah Roberts and Logan Martin were crowned BMX Freestyle world champions at the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Montpeiller, France (7th June).

The event doubled as the last Olympic qualifying opportunity for riders. The sport will make its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games in 2021.

Roberts defends women's title

Defending champion Roberts was a class above the rest as she retained the women's World Champion title and took home the coveted Rainbow Jersey for a third time.

Riding for team US, the teenage sensation put out a near-faultless performance including a Backflip Barspin and a 360 Tuck No Hander.

Her flair and execution was awarded 91.90 points. In second place was Nikita Ducarroz and in third, Charlotte Worthington.

"Two-time, baby!" - Martin gets the men's title back

In the men's event, Martin put down an epic run to take the win. In a final that saw multiple crashes, the Australian only needed one run to secure the trophy.

The 29-year-old first claimed the title in 2017, and had come achingly close to winning the 2019 edition of the championships.

This time with a score of 94.70 however, Martin was untouchable. Rounding off the top three was Daniel Sandoval from the USA in second, and Marin Rantes of Croatia in third.
