2023 World Skateboarding Tour Park: Sky Brown and Luigi Cini win park competitions in San Juan

Sky Brown showed her class to win the women's competition with Brazil's Luigi Cini claimed a surprise victory in a drama-filled men's park event in San Juan, Argentina on Sunday (28 May).

Olympic bronze medallist Sky Brown took her skating to another level winning the women’s park at the first stop of the World Skateboarding Pro Tour 2023 in San Juan, Argentina, on Sunday (28 May).

The recently-crowned world champion and top seed was in fine fettle throughout all three of her runs, turning up the level of difficulty on each to top the standings with an epic score of 90.84.

The 14-year-old phenom is making a habit of winning with scores in the 90s after she claimed the world title in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates with a best score of 90.83.

Brown set the pace throughout all three her runs on Sunday scoring 85 and 87 before cranking up the level of difficulty on her victory lap.

Australia’s Ruby Trew finished in second place with a best score of 86.16 with Raicca Oliveira of Brazil finishing third with 85.17.

The event featured 179 skateboarders bidding to claim ranking points towards qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The men’s competition delivered a good dollop of drama, with Olympic champion Keegan Palmer completing only one run before retiring hurt.

Palmer still managed to clinch the bronze medal with a score of 84.13 despite nursing an injury. The Australian rider limped off and dropped to the ground in pain after his run.

Brazilian underdog Luigi Cini topped the standings courtesy of a fine first run of 85.74, handing him a maiden World Pro Tour victory.

American skateboarder Tom Schaar returned to the podium, landing a run of 84.51 to claim the second step.

World champion Jagger Eaton was left disappointed after he failed to land a single clean run relegating one of the hot favourites to last place.
