Biography

Summer McIntosh, the daughter of Canadian Olympic swimmer Jill Horstead, has proved herself worthy of high expectations.

At just 14, she was the youngest member of the Canadian team selected for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021. The Toronto native went on to achieve a notable fourth-place finish in the 400m freestyle.

One year later, she became a global star on her World Aquatics Championships debut in Budapest. McIntosh won the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley, breaking the world junior record in both. She also took 400m freestyle silver behind the great Katie Ledecky.

She went on to win six medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham just weeks later. Her impressive haul included golds in the 200m and 400m I.M., the former in a new world junior record. McIntosh also won 400m freestyle silver in a new national record with Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus taking gold.
