During the Paralympic Games, the Para marathon will set out from La Courneuve at the heart of Seine-Saint-Denis’ main green hub: Parc Georges Valbon. The athletes will then head to central Paris before finishing on the Esplanade des Invalides.
Parc Georges Valbon will come alive during the Games, transforming into an outstanding celebration venue at the heart of Seine-Saint-Denis for 14 days during the Olympics and three days during the Paralympics. People from neighbouring communities will be able to come and follow the latest events from the Games on a big screen, in addition to discovering and trying out a number of different sports with free access and a range of free activities to choose from.
The Games will make it possible to decontaminate and renature the current ‘Terrain des Essences’ wasteland site. After 2024, this 13-hectare space will extend the Georges-Valbon departmental park, which is the third largest in the Île-de-France Region.
