Matti Nykanen of Finland went down into Olympic history at the Calgary 1988 Games. Nykanen went on to win 3 Olympic gold medals, becoming the first ski jumper to win several gold medals at a single Olympics. In the normal hill event he claimed the Olympic title by 17 points, he won the large hill by 16.5 points and along with teammates claimed the gold medal in the team event inaugural event.
