Tennis legend Rafael Nadal (ESP) waved farewell to the Olympics on the court that has become his home – Court Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros. The Beijing 2008 Olympic champion lost to eventual gold medallist Novak Djokovic (SRB) in the second round of the men’s singles. Nadal partnered with Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s doubles, advancing to the quarter-finals, where they lost to Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram (USA). Nadal also starred in the Opening Ceremony, taking the Olympic torch from Zinedine Zidane and then taking it down the River Seine.
