Building unique and unifying Games will require the commitment of employees, members, volunteers and everyone involved in Paris 2024. Every one of these parties will contribute to achieving our shared ambition of setting an example in all areas. Paris 2024 has created a guide of best practice in order to share the required tools with all of its members, so that they can set an example every day.
The Paris 2024 Code of Ethics, adopted by the Executive Board on 17 April 2019, includes the principles of integrity, neutrality and fair play that everyone involved with organising the Games should implement in order to produce an ethical event.
According to Tony Estanguet, “the Paris 2024 Code of Ethics is the reference that will guide all of the employees, volunteers and other parties involved with organising the Games until 2024 and beyond. This text is a commitment to apply our core principles of integrity, neutrality and fair play. It forms the foundations for the relationships of trust that we aim to develop with the public and all stakeholders in order to successfully build a new model for the Games together.”
A guide of best practice to apply the Code of Ethics on a daily basis
By drawing up a Code of Ethics based on the IOC Code of Ethics for the organisation of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Paris 2024 has reaffirmed its dedication to the Olympic ideal inspired by Baron Pierre de Coubertin and in line with the Olympic Spirit, which calls for mutual understanding, friendship, solidarity and a sense of fair play.
The guide of best practice is a tool to help prevent risks and apply these strong ethical principles in our daily activities. It covers a range of subjects including anticipating and fighting against conflicts of interest, ensuring the integrity of our daily actions, defining situations where presents and invitations may be received, protecting personal data and preventing the manipulation of sporting competitions.
