Skateboarding continues to feed the beast with yet another world-class contest this weekend as the X Games returns to Japan for a third consecutive year.

Only a month after the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and with the World Skate Games Italia 2024 also wrapping up this week, X Games Chiba 2024 steps up to bat from 22-24 September, when approximately 85 of the world’s cream-of-the-crop action sports athletes gather at the Makuhari Messe convention centre.

While there will be something for everyone with 11 disciplines across three sports to be on show, most of the eyes will undoubtedly be on the skateboarders.

Eight of the 12 Olympic medallists in Paris have thrown their hat into the ring including three champions - Yoshizawa Coco in women’s street, and the two from park, Arisa Trew and Keegan Palmer.

Apart from the men’s park, it’s looking like another buffet of medals for the host country in the three other events, especially in women’s street, which will field all seven of the Japanese finalists from the World Skate Games this past weekend.

In the men’s street, big dog Nyjah Huston is back for another serving, with 14-year-old Onodera Ginwoo eyeing a repeat win, while past and present world champions, Shirai Sora and Sasaki Toa, target glory.

Trew will try to maintain her edge in women’s park over Paris silver and bronze medallists, Hiraki Cocona and Sky Brown, respectively, as the Australian looks to cap a summertime hat-trick after winning the world vert title last week in Rome.
