With the Women’s Premier League 2024 auction concluding in Mumbai on Saturday, the five T20 cricket teams, who will be vying for the WPL 2024 trophy, have been finalised.

A total of 165 players - 104 Indians and 61 foreign - went under the hammer at the WPL 2024 auction but teams could only cherrypick 30 of them. There were quite a few surprises in store at the WPL 2024 auction.

While big names like Chamari Athapaththu, Deandra Dottin and Kim Garth, surprisingly, had no takers, uncapped players like Vrinda Dinesh and Kashvee Gautam made headlines by attracting bids over INR 1 crore.

While Karnataka batter Vrinda Dinesh joined the UP Warriorz for a whopping INR 1.3 crore, it was all-rounder Kashvee Gautam, who was the big headline of the WPL 2024 auction, commanding a premium of INR 2.00 crore from Gujarat Giants, which made her the joint-most expensive player at the auction alongside Australian international Annabel Sutherland, who was acquired by Delhi Capitals.

Kashvee Gautam is also the most expensive uncapped player in WPL history.

South African speedster Shabnim Ismail, who joined reigning champions Mumbai Indians for INR 1.20 crore, and Aussie all-rounder Phoebe Litchfield, who fetched INR 1 crore from the Gujarat outfit were the two other bids in the crore bracket.
