A 68-member Australian athletics team, including Diamond League meet winner Torrie Lewis, former world U20 champion Isaac Beacroft and sprint sensation Gout Gout, competed at the World Athletics U20 Championships 2024 in Lima, Peru.
Australia registed their best result in the competition's history with two golds, seven silvers and five bronze at Lima 24. The team finished seventh on the medals table with an overall tally of 14 medals.
Australia opened their account at the World Athletics U20 Championships with a gold medal in the mixed 4x400m relay on the opening day. Jordan Gilbert, Bella Pasquali, Jack Deguara and Sophia Gregorevic clocked 3:19.27 to set a new Australian U20 national record.
A day later, the 18-year-old Delta Amidzovski became the first Australian woman to win a long jump title in the competition.
The Australian athletics team in Lima featured 35 men and 33 women.
Torrie Lewis, Peyton Craig, Claudia Hollingsworth, who were all members of the Australian team at the Paris 2024 Olympics, returned with medals from Lima 24.
Gout Gout and Cameron Myers made their debuts at the global meet and returned with silver medals in the men's 200m and 1500m events, respectively.
