Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues are among the six Indian cricketers who will be in action at the Women’s Big Bash League 2024-25, which starts from Sunday.
The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is the premier franchise-based T20 cricket tournament for women in Australia and the world. All WBBL matches will be available for live streaming and telecast in India.
Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, is set for a return to the WBBL for the first time since 2022. She represented Brisbane Heat in the 2016-17 season, Hobart Hurricanes in 2018-19 and Sydney Thunder in 2021-22 previously.
The Indian opener will represent the Adelaide Strikers, a team looking to win their third title on the trot, in her fourth season in the WBBL.
Brisbane Heat, meanwhile, have two Indians in their roster for WBBL 2024-25 - batter Jemimah Rodrigues and all-rounder Shikha Pandey.
While Rodrigues had represented Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars previously in the T20 tournament, Pandey is set for her debut WBBL season.
Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia, another WBBL debutant, and Deepti Sharma will both represent Melbourne Stars in the upcoming season. Sharma was with the Sydney Thunders back in 2021-22.
Batter Dayalan Hemalatha, meanwhile, will play her maiden WBBL season for the Perth Scorchers.

Into its 10th season, the WBBL features eight teams - Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Thunders, Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes.
Each team will face the others once in the league stage, after which the top four will make the knockout rounds.
The top-placed team advances directly to the final while the third and fourth-placed teams face each other in the eliminator. The winner of the eliminator plays the league’s second-placed team in the challenger round for the second berth in the final.
