The path for a fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal in men's basketball goes through South America for Team USA.
The sixth and final window of 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers takes place this week, with the Americans facing Uruguay on Thursday (23 February) and Brazil Sunday (26 February).
Teams continue to battle for the chance to compete at this year’s FIBA World Cup taking place 25 August - 10 September jointly hosted by Japan, Indonesia and Philippines. The World Cup also doubles up as a qualifier for the Olympic Summer Games Paris 2024.
Team USA revealed its roster last week, and will play as the away team in both contests - facing Uruguay in Montevideo before travelling to Santa Cruz do Sul to meet Brazil. The U.S. needs to win one of these two games to secure its ticket to the World Cup.
The Americans are looking to bounce back vs. Brazil after a 15-point loss in November in the previous window of qualifiers.
