The UEFA Champions League is the pinnacle of men’s club football and there are certain players that just know how to step up to the occasion when it matters.
From Cristiano Ronaldo to Lionel Messi, and recently Karim Benzema, the competition has seen some of the most prolific goal scorers to lead the charge for silverware.
Perhaps more impressively, many of these players have shown their longevity in the game to do it well into their 30s.
While Messi, who was at the heart of Argentina’s FIFA World Cup 2022 winning campaign, leads the scoring charts for most UCL goals for a single club, there’s a different name atop the list for all-time goals netted on Europe’s biggest stage.
UEFA Champions League top goal scorers
Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller and Kylian Mbappe are likely to add to their tallies, while Erling Haaland and Mo Salah are level on 46 and could continue climbing the ranks.
Mbappe was the youngest player to reach 10 UCL goals, eight days shy of his 19th birthday.
Manchester City star Haaland is still only 23 and reached 40 UCL goals at quicker than a goal a game.
