Chloe Dygert has won the women's time trial at UCI worlds 2023

It seems Chloé Dygert loves UCI Cycling World Championships time trial races in Great Britain.

The American was crowned time trial world champion for the second time on Thursday (10 August 2023) in Stirling, Scotland, four years after she first won the rainbow jersey in Harrogate, England.

Despite starting with a high bib number of 66, meaning she was among the first 20 riders off the ramp of the 84 competing, the 26-year-old – who had already won 2023 track gold in the individual pursuit exactly a week ago in Glasgow – set a blistering pace around the 36.2km course, completing it in 46 minutes 59.80 seconds.

Only one of the remaining 65 riders after her would come remotely close to her – second seed Grace Brown of Australia, who finished 5.67 seconds slower. Bronze medallist Christina Schweinberger of Austria was 1:12.95 behind Dygert's time.

The time trial events at the 2023 World Championships awarded an Olympic qualifying quota spot for Paris 2024 to each of the top 10 National Olympic Committees (not necessarily the NOCs of the top 10 finishers) with a maximum of one quota spot, although these quotas are not guaranteed as NOCs not qualified for the road race cannot take up time trial quotas.
