India’s Anirban Lahiri was left frustrated at the Tokyo Olympics after three rounds of golf at the Kasumigaseki Country Club on Saturday.

The Indian golfer was placed tied-28th with a combined score of six-under 207 (67, 72, 68) while his compatriot Udayan Mane climbed one place to tied-55 with a card of two-over 215 (76, 69, 70). Mane was 60th and last after the opening day.

Anirban Lahiri, who finished 57th at the Rio 2016 Olympics, was tied-eighth after the opening day but fell 20 places by the penultimate day of the tournament.

“It’s been a disappointing 36 holes. I had a good finish to my round but I’m very disappointed, and barring a miracle, it will be hard for me to get on the podium tomorrow,” said Lahiri.

“I felt I was playing well and the first round started good but my second round, I kind of lost my momentum and never got it back. The course was very gettable but I haven’t played anywhere near my A-game the last day and a half.”

Anirban Lahiri began with the second round on Saturday on the 17th green after bad weather had ended the day early on Friday and carded a bogey on the par-four hole to tee off the proceedings.

In the third round, Anirban carded one bogey, two birdies and an eagle to finish three-under 68.

“On this course, you have to get on a hot stretch, like make three birdies in a row... which I haven’t really done,” Lahiri pointed out. “It’s been a tough ball striking week for me, unfortunately.”

Udayan Mane, meanwhile, endured a mixed outing as four birdies and three bogeys on Saturday helped him gain two places in what is his Olympic debut.

Overnight leader Xander Schauffele of the USA, meanwhile, consolidated his place on the top with three-under 68 on the day, taking his overall score to 14-under 119 (68, 63, 68).

Local hope and the reigning Master champion Hideki Matsuyama of Japan was second with a total score of 13-under 200.
