American swimming legend Katie Ledecky and Ariarne Titmus of Australia are expected to battle for the gold medal once again, this time in the women’s 200m freestyle on Wednesday.
Katie Ledecky and Ariarne Titmus have already gone head-to-head in the women’s 400m freestyle, where world champion Titmus beat world record holder Ledecky to the gold medal.
Ledecky will be even more determined in the 200m freestyle final, for which she qualified with the second-best time.
Katie Ledecky will start in lane 3 while Ariarne Titmus will be right alongside in lane 4.
Hong Kong’s Bernadette Siobhan Haughey - who posted the fastest time in the semis - will start from lane 5.
The 200m freestyle women’s world record holder Federica Pellegrini of Italy is another contender and she will swim in lane 1.
